Chapter 15

Natalie had actually died in that explosion. But what she didn't expect was that the research lab she'd been in contact with before her death would recover her body before Jayden or Logan could get to it. That was when she learned the research lab wasn't just focused on developing new drugs but also researching systems. With the system's help, Natalie was transferred into a new body and was given a second chance at life. However, there was a catch. If she wanted to keep this body permanently, she had to complete the mission set by the system. The mission was simple—she had to send everyone who'd ruined her life to hell within two months. Initially, she didn't want to go through with it. All she wanted was to leave it all behind—Jayden, Logan, and the pain they caused her. The wounds they'd inflicted on her were already deep enough. Reopening them would only hurt more. But then she saw her older brother and fiancée, who, upon learning the truth, not only failed to reflect on their own mistakes but instead placed all the blame on Clara, venting their anger and frustration on her. Clara was undoubtedly at fault, but justice belonged in a courtroom, not in a basement, and certainly not through vigilante revenge. The ones truly responsible were Jayden and Logan. If they'd just trusted her… If they hadn't been so arrogant… If they'd listened to her or even looked at the evidence that had been right in front of them, she wouldn't have been pushed to the edge. Yet now, they get to walk away unscathed? Why? How could they? Natalie couldn't accept it, so she decided to accept the system's deal and come back for her revenge. Just then, a crack of thunder ripped across the sky. Lightning lit up the night, illuminating the fury and resentment in her eyes. … After Jayden and Logan found the woman who looked exactly like Natalie, they refused to let her out of their sight. Because of the rift between the two men, they came up with a rotation—she would spend one week with Jayden, then one week with Logan. Back and forth. The first week, of course, belonged to Jayden. To celebrate his "younger sister's" miraculous return, Jayden held a press conference. With cameras flashing and microphones everywhere, he told the reporters that the woman beside him was his biological sister and the heiress of the Carter family. Initially, both reporters and netizens wanted to roast him, thinking he'd lost his mind. But money could work wonders, and the Carter family was still one of the top elite families, so they played along. Seeing everyone go along with it brought Jayden some relief. Even though Natalie had clearly told him she wasn't his sister, he had a feeling that she was. He had no proof or reason to back it up, but deep down, he just knew. So, he clung to that belief and tried to make things right with her. The first thing he did was announce to the world that she was his one and only sister. Back when Clara showed up, Jayden, out of sympathy, had done everything he could to be kind to her, even going as far as publicly announcing that Clara was also his biological sister. This had left Natalie devastated, especially since he'd promised her before that she would always be his only sister. He'd broken that promise, and with each betrayal, she'd slipped further away from him. Now that she was back, he finally had the chance to make things right, apologize, and somehow try to give back everything he'd taken from her. Today was just the beginning, but things turned out much better than he'd expected. Not only had the reporters and netizens accepted his story, but even the woman beside him seemed to have accepted it too.
