Chapter 23
That evening, Quill made ravioli by hand. He always thought that no matter how many meals he had made for Aspen and Nora, it was not right that his real family had never tasted his cooking.
After they finished eating, it was time for New Year's Eve celebrations. When the kids were energetic, they kept everyone awake, but when they grew tired, they fell asleep faster than anyone else.
At first, Sabrina was quite excited. After all, she rarely got to stay up late, and she kept asking to watch this or play with that. Quill had never seen her let loose like this before; she was usually more like a little adult, composed, polite, and always in control, almost a carbon copy of Candice.
However, as the clock struck midnight, Sabrina, who had stayed up for the first part of the night, suddenly seemed drained. Her little head drooped as exhaustion took over, and no matter what happened, she showed no interest in anything anymore.
Quill gently picked her up and placed her back on her bed.
