Chapter 16

Three years after returning to his original world, Quill received a call from an unfamiliar number. At the time, he was at Tempas City Hospital's rehabilitation center, accompanying Candice and Sabrina during their physical therapy. Though it had been three years since they woke up from their comatose state, the lingering effects of the car accident and extended immobility meant they still needed therapy to regain full function. It was their final session, and just as the exercises wrapped up, his phone rang. "Hello, is this Mr. Quill Milton?" a woman's unfamiliar voice asked. After Quill confirmed, she continued, "This is Tempas City Hospital's inpatient department. Two patients claim to be your friends. Can you come over?" Two patients? Quill found it odd but figured it was not far, so he agreed. "Sure, I'll be there." After hanging up, he let Candice and Sabrina know he would be stepping away and then made his way to the inpatient building. The inpatient ward was across from
