Chapter 2357
Upon hearing the details from each person, Blake suddenly felt a twinge of pain in his head. He took a deep breath and adopted a more serious tone. "I'm not in the mood to hear all those insignificant details. I want to know the name of the person who did it!"
The Burkes were left stumped by his question. They knew not of Callie's name despite their relentless pursuit of her, and Severin's intervention ended up becoming a muddling the situation further. None of them knew who Severin was.
Observing the hesitancy among the Burkes' disciples, Blake was starting to realize that none of them knew who Gerry's killer was. That was his first time feeling that the Burkes were as useless as those second-rate forces.
Frustration crept in, and Blake could only patiently press on for answers. As details began to trickle in, Blake became even more confused. He thought to himself, 'How could a level five paragon like Gerry be killed instantly by a level three familiar. They say that the person's name starts with S. Why does that feel so familiar?'
Meanwhile, the white-robed Simeon arrived with Tobias and Karl. Karl—having suffered a significant setback at the hands of Severin in their last encounter with the Menzies, had ventured deeper into the battlespace to recuperate and explore its depths. In the course of his travels, he chanced upon Simeon and Tobias—both also hailing from Southsky. They all decided to ally with each other for their mutual benefit.
Their collaboration bore much fruit, as Karl unexpectedly advanced to level two paragon during their ventures.
Simeon, having witnessed Severin's formidable counterattack against Halbert, was able to witness saw Severin's true prowess and understood the dire consequences that would result from going against him.
As a result, he and the other two decided to inform the Yellow Ghost Tribe if they managed to find one of their members. In the meantime, they also took the chance to source out other opportunities for themselves.
In the span of a few days, Simeon was later able to raise his attainment to perfect-stage level three paragon, and his aura became more intimidating as a result.
As the three of them witnessed the phenomenon that heralded the birth of a heavenly treasure, they hastened towards the scene in an attempt to vie for it. However, they halted themselves upon reaching the vicinity and spotting Blake with the Menzies.
Karl remarked with a grave expression, "Those are the Menzies." He recalled his previous encounter with them after Severin had tricked him. Had it not been for his combat ability and his use of his trump card, he would have died in the hands of the Menzies. Simply thinking of that made his muscles tense up immediately, as if ready to escape at any time.
Simeon, too, displayed unease upon hearing that. The Menzies, especially their leader Blake, was filled with surging power, and even Simeon would find it difficult to catch his breath.
In the meantime, Tobias—who had just made a breakthrough to level one paragon—clung tightly to Karl and Simeon. He was aware of his own limitations, and all he wanted was to return to Southsky in one piece.
The trio discreetly concealed their presence and observed the unfolding dynamics between the Menzies and the Burkes. Blake's presence drew a sigh from Karl. "It's such a shame that we don't have much luck with these treasures."
