Nathaniel answered truthfully, "I don't want to."
Quinley suddenly wrapped her arms around his neck and planted a kiss on his cheek. "Nathaniel, I like you. About the truth-or-dare question our coworker asked you yesterday… That dare? I was the one who told her to ask you that."
"What?" Nathaniel was still reeling from the kiss. Quinley's confession had left his head spinning.
Quinley's cheeks turned pink. "I've liked you since college. You might not have remembered me, but I remembered you from the moment you enrolled.
"I come from a poor family too. My parents are both disabled. On the first day of college, no one came to see me off. When I struggled with my heavy luggage at the gate, you carried it all the way to the dorm for me.
"In my sophomore year, I lost my cafeteria card and had no money for food. I was crying in the corner of the cafeteria when you bought me a meal with two meats and some vegetables. You even lent me money, saying you didn't need it.
