As thunder cracked outside, Valeria gripped the edge of the curtain tightly. "If he's unwell, just call an ambulance."
Calvin replied, "Ms. Neal, Mr. Grant had a thoracotomy five months ago. Back in Shagos, a bullet pierced his lung, and they had to remove part of the damaged tissue. If he spikes a fever, he's at serious risk of acute pneumonia and suffocation."
After a pause, he continued, "His body hasn't fully recovered. He only came to Broburgh City on short notice. The doctor advised at least half a year of rest."
As Calvin spoke, thunder rolled outside, echoing endlessly in Valeria's ears. It rumbled on, roaring as though it would never end.
Through the curtain, Valeria could still feel the blaze of lightning, turning the night into sudden daylight.
And in that instant, his voice fell silent.
