Chapter 1713 My Conscience Is Clear
Jules fell silent.
Olympias continued. “Uncle Jules, you shouldn’t postpone this matter much further. You should be made the patriarch. This is what Grandpa wants.”
“No, this will not work. Absolutely not.” Jules shook his head continuously. In the end, he did not accept Olympias’ suggestion and left the Regis Tower right away.
After Jules left, Tyr walked in from the outside. He asked, “How’s it going?”
“He doesn’t accept it.” Olympias smiled bitterly and shook her head.
“This is normal. If he accepts your proposal just like that, then there must be something wrong,” Tyr replied. “But sooner or later, it will happen.”
Olympias paused for a moment before responding, “Boss, when the position of the patriarch is given to Uncle Jules later, shall we go back to Komodo Island?”
“The knot in your heart has not been resolved yet,” Tyr said, propping up his chin with his hand. “Let’s make the most of the situation and figure out what happened back then. I’ll go with you.”
“All right!” Olympias exclaimed after taking a deep breath.
That evening, in the White Family’s prison.
Ansel, Jehan, and others were all imprisoned here. The former high-spirited and insufferably arrogant Master Ansel of the White family was already in a state of decline.
At this time, the cell door was opened. Olympias and Tyr walked into the prison together.
Ansel had become much more decadent and older in just a few days. He hadn’t eaten in the past few days. At that moment, he sat on the bed in the prison and was brooding in silence.
When he saw Tyr and Olympias approaching, he finally lifted his eyes and looked at the two.
“Matriarch, this place is filthy! Don’t dirty your priceless self!” Ansel’s voice was hoarse, and he spoke in a mocking tone.
Olympias had a strong distaste for Ansel, together with a long-time grudge against him. So, she didn’t have to treat him as her uncle at the time. Olympias said, “I came here to figure out something today.”
“Oh? Girl, you want to know who was the one behind your father’s murder back then, right?” Ansel laughed loudly.
“Have you always suspected me of being the mastermind? You think I did it to compete for the title of patriarch? After all, the entire family was aware that the old man desired to promote your father to that position.”
“Isn’t that the case?” Olympias asked rhetorically.
Ansel laughed out loudly. His laughter echoed throughout the prison. He explained, “Girl, I’ve been crushed this time, and I’m sure I’m going to die.
“It is said that men speak kindly in the presence of death, so I’m going to tell you something serious right now. I do have a hot temper and get grumpy when I do things, but I did everything with a clear conscience.
“I would never do anything that would kill my siblings or jeopardize my merit. It was not my fault that something bad happened to your father back then.”
“Ansel, you also said that you are doomed,” Olympias frowned and chided coldly. “What kind of nonsense are you talking about? Just tell me the truth if you’re a real man.”
“This is the truth! Olympias, I did nothing wrong,” Ansel said, his expression becoming agitated.
“If I say I haven't done something, I mean I haven’t done it at all. The winner takes it all. This time, I’ve been utterly crushed. I admit my defeat.”Ansel took a deep breath at this point.
“Olympias, do you know that the scariest person in the world is not someone like me?” He grinned, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth to Olympias.
“It’s the type of person who says nice things about you on the surface while secretly stabbing you in the back. I didn’t send anyone to kill you when you returned to the White family from Regal Palace.”
“It was even more unlikely for me to send killers on the day you were elected matriarch and some killers broke into the Regis Tower. Although my temperament can be slightly grumpy, I am not a fool. If you don’t believe me, there’s a file in the Sealed Chamber about your father’s death.
“All the answers to that incident back then are sealed there. As the matriarch, you have the right to enter the Sealed Chamber. You can discover the answer by visiting the chamber and seeing it for yourself.
Olympias’s expression darkened. She hadn’t dared to believe Ansel’s words until now, but he did point her in the right direction. It’s quite simple to figure out what happened.
Even if Olympias could figure out the ins and outs of the situation, it was unknown whether she would be able to solve all of the problems smoothly. Even someone with Regis capability couldn’t solve these problems easily back then, let alone Olympias,
“Your decision to enter the Sealed Chamber depends on if you have the courage or not.” Ansel immediately turned his body away after saying that. He stopped talking and turned his back to the wall behind him.
Tyr and Olympias exited the prison and headed straight back to the Regis Tower. After they returned, the two immediately shut the door behind them.
Tyr said after they made sure no one was listening in, “What do you want to do next? It’s entirely up to you. We will stay if you want to figure everything out and seek justice for your parents. You can abdicate tomorrow if you don’t want to and we’ll return to Regal Palace.”
“Boss, what do you think I should do now?” Olympias asked as she became increasingly perplexed. “Do you believe what my uncle said to me?”
“You’re hesitating and doubting. It means you already know the answer deep down. There is an answer in the Sealed Chamber,” Tyr said, taking a deep breath. “However, if you go in and find out the answer, the entire situation will change.”
“Are you saying Uncle Jules is going to hurt me? Or, perhaps all of this is Uncle Jules’s doing.” Olympias suddenly changed her mind.
Tyr shook his head and said, “It’s best for you to go to the Sealed Chamber. But once you go, there is no turning back.”
“I know.” Olympias was deafeningly quiet for a while. Even though she had a plan in her head, she was still under tremendous stress about taking that step.
“I will go with you,” Tyr offered.
“Boss, you. . . “
“Not long ago, all of the brothers and sisters in Regal Palace swore to share our joys and sorrows,” Tyr said, grinning. “I’ll be there to support you through it all.”
Olympias took a deep breath and, after a few moments, nodded firmly, “All right.”
“There’s no time to waste. We’ll go there right away.”
It was almost dark at this time, and the entire family was shrouded in gloom. Tyr and Olympias hurriedly exited the Regis Tower and made their way to the Sealed Chamber.
The Sealed Chamber was where the family collected various scrolls and exercises. It was equivalent to the heritage of the White family. Therefore, the chamber had always been tightly guarded. No one else was eligible to enter here except the head of the family.
