Chapter 27
In the hospital corridor, the glaring red light was on.
Melanie slapped Cyril across the face and said in a trembling voice, "You bastard! This is Anna we're talking about! Anna, who grew up with you! How could you say such things to provoke her?"
Cyril didn't dodge, and blood began to trickle out of the corner of his lips.
His gaze was hollow as he muttered to himself, "I didn't mean for her to die."
"What good is saying that now?" Deborah suddenly lunged at him, scratching and clawing at him. Her sharp nails left a trail of marks across his skin. "If anything happens to Anna, I'll make you pay with your life!"
The operating light turned off.
The doctor stepped out, his expression serious as he let out a soft sigh.
"I'm sorry, we did all we could. Please accept our condolences."
The words made the entire corridor fall into complete silence.
