Chapter 19

Eugene stood at the entrance to the private room. He'd even gone to the restroom to check on his outfit. He was at the restaurant for a meal; he didn't expect to run into Nerissa there. Now that he knew where she was, he couldn't wait until some other time to talk to her. And so, he'd hurriedly straightened his clothes before following her to the private room. Before entering the room, he'd imagined how Nerissa would react. Perhaps she would still be mad at him and unwilling to forgive him, or perhaps she would've already moved past what had happened and considered him a friend. Whatever it was, he was willing to live with however she felt about him. He was confident that he would rekindle her love for him as long as he got to see her again. The only scenario he hadn't imagined was that she would already be seeing someone else. They were even about to get married.
