Chapter 6 Dare to Want You

He laughed inexplicably, and Selena stood by, watching him. Zachary continued to laugh heartily for a while before finally stopping. "Selena, seriously? You're not only ugly, but you're also terrible at what you do, and yet you have the nerve to be so fierce. What man would ever want a woman like you?" Zachary's words were always harsh, while Selena lowered her eyes and remained silent. Zachary didn't care if she was angry or not. "It's all because of you, wasting my time. I was supposed to have the whole night with Luisa, but now look what happened... You can take a taxi back on your own, and your bonus this month will be cut in half!" After saying that, he got in his car and drove away. Selena stood there for a moment, then with heavy steps, she walked towards the nearby bus stop. She had been gone for less than five minutes when the luxurious Aston Martin pulled into the police station's parking lot. Christopher sat in the back seat, and his assistant, Gilbert Larson, opened the car door. "Mr. Morris, would you like to go in and have a look?" "No need, you can go. Tell her that this won't happen again, and we'll let her off the hook this time!" Gilbert nodded and headed towards the police station. Christopher watched his retreating figure, thinking about Selena's disheveled appearance earlier, feeling increasingly agitated. Selena, weren't you quite rebellious? Didn't you consider money as worthless and leave a marriage with nothing? Why the hell are you doing now? What's the meaning of being a disheveled waitress like this? He took out a cigarette box, pulled out a cigarette, and lit it. Just after taking a puff, Gilbert came out and said, "Mr. Morris, Mrs. Morris has already been picked up by someone!" "Is he gone? Who? Bryan?" Christopher asked three questions in a row. Gilbert shook his head, "No, it's Zachary!" "Zachary, huh? Hehe!" Christopher sneered. Zachary and Bryan were best buddies, and the fact that he picked her up so quickly showed how important she was to Bryan. With a fierce expression, he crushed the cigarette butt in his hand. "Let's go!" Selena had been waiting at the bus stop for half an hour before she finally got on the bus. When she returned home, Wallace was watching TV in the living room. Seeing her disheveled appearance, he was taken aback and exclaimed, "Selena, what happened to you?" "I've met a despicable person!" Selena naturally wouldn't hide this from Wallace. "Selena, you shouldn't have come back! It would have been so much better if you had stayed by Bryan's side..." "Uncle Wallace, I can't always stay by Bryan's side. My status would only hold him back. Besides, your health isn't good, and I can't help but worry about you." "Ah, it's all my fault, getting old and still causing you trouble!" Wallace sighed. "Don't worry, I won't be staying in Atlanta for long. Pinnacle Inc. has expanded to Chicago, and I might be transferred there for work in the future. When that happens, we can leave Atlanta and won't have to deal with these awful people anymore." At the Shurmer residence, Josephine hurriedly got out of the car and entered the living room, exclaiming, "Mom, I'm back!" Sitting in the living room, Sophia Lewis looked up and was startled to see Josephine with disheveled hair and stains all over her dress. "What happened?" "Let's talk upstairs." Josephine glanced at a housekeeper in the living room and pulled Sophia's hand, heading straight upstairs. After closing the door, she immediately spoke. "Mom, Selena is back. What should we do?" "What did you say? Selena is back? Is this for real?" Sophia exclaimed, taken aback. "It's true, I saw her at the cocktail party tonight. She's not doing well at all, she was even working as a waitress at the party..." Josephine recounted the evening's events to Sophia. "Why on earth would you provoke her at a time like this?" Sophia complained. "Can't I just avoid her? Mom, think about it, why would this despicable woman show up now after disappearing for three years?" Josephine's face was filled with anger. "She must have found out about my engagement to Christopher and showed up on purpose." "Could it be like that?" Sophia asked in return. "It must be like this, I took Christopher from her, and she can't accept it. I'm worried she'll go after Christopher, so it's better to strike first." "This is indeed a good idea, but the problem is your dad... He's always been thinking about this little wretch. If he knows she's back, he'll definitely go looking for her, and that could be troublesome!" "So you better think of a solution quickly." "Let me think! We absolutely cannot let her relationship with your dad become public, that would be disastrous!" Sophia said with a resentful expression.
