Chapter 40
VALENTINA
I gently lifted my head from the water, keeping my eyes open, and observed my father surveying his surroundings, alert and discreet.
I made a move, my eyes fixed on my target. My movement was quiet and calm, not disturbing the regular flow of the water. Thanks to Mama, I have learned to master water assassination.
Targeting Papa, I went underwater again and waited for him to turn away. Once he did, I moved and got out of the water, not making any sound.
I hid behind a tree; he was just a few feet away, still unable to detect my scent. My confidence grew, and I slowly climbed the huge tree like a snake. All of these were a part of my teenage training. For some reason, my parents wanted to perfect me, and I obliged with interest.
I climbed onto the branch closest to my father, over his head. He was still looking for me while I was closer than a foot to him.
A proud smirk arose on my lips. Finally, I did—Ogh! A gasp escaped me involuntarily when I was suddenly grabbed by the arm
