"I invited Lily and Maryanne. What are you doing here?" Chantelle refused to get in. She glanced at Janet, wanting her to come out of the car. But with the window in the way, she couldn't see what was going on inside. Terence remained in the same place, holding the door open. "What's the problem with me coming along? Even if we're not married, we're still friends, aren't we? I'm just giving you a ride." Those words didn't sound like something he would normally say. And yet, it left Chantelle with no real way of turning him down. In fact, refusing would only make things more awkward, like she had something to hide. "Mommy, hurry up!"
