Chapter 1648 But Benjamin Can

Margot turned around and locked eyes with a pair of mocking eyes. The man held a glass of wine and took a slow sip out of it. He was enjoying her embarrassment. It was Lance, Benjamin's younger brother—the Inkling family's bastard. Margot gave him a blank look. "Are you stupid?" Lance was taken aback. "What did you say?" Margot clicked her tongue. "You must be. You can't hear me when we're standing this close. I suggest you visit a specialist." Lance's face darkened. Was this woman insane? Didn't she hear what he just said? And why did she seem so indifferent? Didn't she like Benjamin? Or was she only after Benjamin's money? Lance glared at her. "Do you want to be with Benjamin?" Margot nodded. "Yes." Lance smirked. "I can help you. As long as you follow my instructions, Benjamin will always be with you. No one will come between you." Margot looked at him. "What do you want me to do?" Lance stepped closer to her and whispered, "My grandpa doesn't like you because your status doesn't match Benjamin's. Your relationship brings nothing but harm to the family. "So Grandpa had arranged for Benjamin to go on a blind date with that wealthy girl. I can help you gain Grandpa's favor. "Then, you can stay by Benjamin's side and allow him to focus on his studies without worrying about the Inkling Corporation's affairs. "Once you have children together, I will speak on your behalf and persuade Grandpa to approve of your marriage." He spoke with sincerity as if genuinely considering Margot's well-being. Margot watched his performance. "Benjamin is competent. Why should he stay out of the Inkling Corporation's affairs? I also want to be the president's wife." Lance's face grew colder at her words, but he maintained a gentle tone as he said, "This is just a temporary measure. Once your relationship is stable, Benjamin can return to Inkling Corporation." Margot hummed. When the time came, would Benjamin make it back alive? The Inkling Corporation would have fallen into another person's hand by then. Margot nodded. "Your plan sounds good." Lance warmed up to her. "What do you think? Will you form an alliance with me? I can fulfill your wishes." "I really can't fathom what kind of brainless imbecile would come up with such a plan." Margot looked at his smug expression and said, "Do you think everyone else is stupid?" Lance knew that Margot wouldn't form an alliance with him. He sneered. "Hmph, I see how it is. No man can resist the temptation of wealth and power. I'll be waiting for your break up. Don't come crying to me then." With that, he turned and left. He felt that Margot didn't appreciate his good intentions. She was truly ungrateful. Margot watched his retreating figure and shook her head helplessly. Lance was still young and inexperienced, after all. Of course, one shouldn't be so direct with their manipulation tactic. Margot shifted her gaze away. She saw Benjamin looking impatient. The wealthy girl must have noticed it, too, because she was now wearing an awkward expression. Margot smirked. No man could resist the temptation of wealth and power? Benjamin could.
