"Your presence alone is an insult to my mom. Get lost!" Cassandra snapped.
Sophia's eyes welled up. She looked like she had been wronged beyond words. Turning to Jack, her voice trembled. "Dear, I was one of Matilda's closest friends. I just wanted to pay my respects. What did I do wrong?"
Jack was already fuming. He comforted her in a gentle voice. "I know, I know."
Cassandra's expression darkened even more. The two of them still had the nerve to put on a show in front of Matilda's grave. How disgusting.
"I said, get lost!" She picked up a freshly snapped branch from the ground and swung it at them.
