Hearing the insincere voice behind her, Cassandra didn't bother to turn around. She squared her shoulders and continued steadily toward the lobby.
Clara remained rooted to the spot, her eyes locked on Cassandra's retreating figure. Her brow furrowed, a flicker of anger sparking in her gaze.
Did Cassandra honestly think she was royalty or something? How dare she walk away without a word? In the end, she was just a woman who'd already been cast aside.
Did she not realize who held the real power here?

Driven by determination, she hurried forward and seized Cassandra's arm.
Cassandra froze in her tracks. She glanced at Clara, a flash of irritation crossing her starry eyes.
"What do you want?" she asked, her tone tight with impatience.
Clara blinked, visibly taken aback. Tears began to well in her eyes. "So you heard everything, Cass… Then, why did you pretend I wasn't here?"
