The girl's face was streaked with tears as she muttered shakily, "Thank you, miss... They tried to steal my bag, and they wanted to hurt me. I'm so lucky you showed up…"
"It's okay now. The police are on their way," Cassandra reassured her gently.
"Miss, now that it's over, I just want to go home," the girl said timidly.
Cassandra gently patted her back and spoke softly, "Don't be afraid. The police will be here any second. They'll keep you safe. Can you stand up? Do you want to rest in my car for a bit?"
As the girl nodded, Cassandra helped her to her feet.
However, the girl's legs were still shaking. She'd clearly been badly frightened.
Supporting the girl, Cassandra slowly guided her to the car and had her sit in the back seat, then handed her a bottle of water.
