Chapter 438
[Caroline: Yes, very much so.]
Zachary did not reply to my messages after that. I guess that he must have been elated. A man like him loved to hide all his emotions deep down inside, making it difficult for others to coax him.
However, after that night, I realized that he loved listening to me when I said nice things. Although he found me clingy, he still enjoyed me clinging to him. He was indeed a two-faced man that was both serious and flirtatious at the same time!
I put down my phone and went to bed. When I got up in the morning, I changed into a formal dress and went out. Leo waited for me downstairs. After he learned that I was headed to Nanjing, he asked if I was going by plane or car.
I planned to head to Finland from Nanjing the next day, so traveling by car was inconvenient. I had Leo arrange for me to use the Schick family’s private helicopter and flew straight to Nanjing.
I also had him prepare the entry and exit visa for Finland.
He left after receiving the orders. In less than 30 minutes, the Schick family had a helicopter sent over. I flew over to Nanjing before giving Loraine a call.
Loraine sent me an address, and the helicopter landed right behind the hotel. She waited for me there. Beside her was a handsome man with a gentle expression.
I guess that was the doctor.
Loraine was right. His eyes were quite a sight. A man with a pair of beautiful eyes would not be bad.
After getting out of the helicopter, I called out to Loraine. She came over to give me a hug and shouted, “Thank you for attending my wedding!”
I lightly patted her on the back and smiled. “You’re welcome. Has Summer and the others arrived yet? How many bridesmaids do you have?”
She let go of me and explained, “According to the doctor’s family’s suggestion, I invited six bridesmaids and groomsmen. Apart from you guys, the remaining three are juniors from the doctor’s household.”
I grunted in acknowledgment and looked at the quiet doctor. Seeing that, Loraine hooked her arm around his and explained with a smile.
“Doctor, this is my sister, Caroline Shaw. I’ve told you about her multiple times! Sis Caroline, this is Doctor Jayden Marcus. Those in the hospital address him as Doctor Marcus. Sis Caroline, you can just call him Doctor Marcus as well.”
I extended my hand and greeted, “Nice to meet you, Doctor Marcus.”
The doctor returned the handshake and said, “Nice to meet you, Miss Shaw. Raine had often talked about you. I’ve always wanted to meet you.”
I laughed and answered, “Raine had always talked to me about you too.”
The doctor smiled. “Let’s go inside.”
I followed Loraine back to her room. She said that Jayden would have to leave later and would come by to take her home the next morning.
I asked, “When will Summer and Yara arrive?”
“Most likely in the afternoon. Brother as well.”
“Lance didn’t come over earlier?” I asked.
She explained, “Brother has a performance in A City this morning. He can only come over after that ends. I told him about the wedding out of the blue, and he can’t change the schedule as he liked. It’s not his fault.”
I acknowledged it and asked, “Then what about your second brother?”
Right then, I was afraid of meeting Dixon.
“He won’t be attending my wedding.”
Loraine’s voice was filled with disappointment.
I asked in surprise, “Even if it’s your wedding?”
“He’s occupied with some matters in Arbacia and can’t make it back.”
Was Dixon getting his illness treated in the Arbacia? Could it be that his condition was improving?
He had not come looking for trouble with me recently.
I let out a sigh of relief after learning of Dixon’s absence. I touched Loraine’s face and asked, “Is the pregnancy difficult?”
She shook her head. “Not really.”
Right then, Loraine seemed to be in a daze. I stayed in the room for a short while before going out. I planned to take a stroll in the hotel.
Leo and three other bodyguards followed behind me. They had invisible earphones on. I thought about it and instructed them, “All of us being together seems too conspicuous. You can dismiss the other three.”
Loraine mentioned that the doctor’s family was a family of academics. They had decent foundations, but when compared to prominent families like ours…
