Scarlett's POV
The sunlight filtering through the curtains was soft and golden, casting a hazy glow across the room. I stirred beneath the sheets, still tangled in the aftermath of last night. My thoughts were anything but calm—Lucien's words echoed in my ears, his touch still ghosting across my skin.
"Don't let anyone touch you again, little wolf."
My fingers drifted over the back of my hand, where his lips had brushed. A ghost of a kiss that still burned into my skin.
Ack! Stop thinking about it, Scarlett Winter! For god's sake!
I had no idea what he meant anymore. Was it possessiveness? Just a surge of heat? Did he get caught up in the atmosphere? I didn't know anymore!
I sighed, shaking my head to dispel those thoughts.
I sat up and rubbed my temples, hoping a long shower would clear the fog from my mind. The mansion was unusually quiet. I assumed everyone was still asleep from the banquet—or too hungover to care.
