Chapter 177 Till Death Do Us Part

A wave of emotions seemed to be surging in Lindsey’s heaving chest, which crashed onto her already fickle heart, making it an utter mess. She was suddenly at a loss. Lindsey secretly hated her weakness. Every time she got hurt by Zayn, she would always easily feel touched by the things he said or did. She looked out of the window and gradually became lost in thought. When Lindsey came back to her senses, the ward had long been empty. Quentin had already left at some point, so the empty room was silent. Lindsey carefully looked around and realized that there was an identical hospital bed right next to hers, but it did not look like anyone had been lying there. "Ms. Juhl, it's time for your infusion." The nurse's slightly sweet voice sounded. Lindsey raised her eyes just in time to see the door to the ward open and her eyes met with the man following behind the nurse. Her body suddenly stiffened and she looked away in panic. Zayn did not say anything as he stood at the side and watched the nurse skillfully poked the needle into her arm. Zayn saw Lindsey frown, so he could not help but say to the nurse, “Be careful.” "It's fine. It's not that painful." Lindsey said from the side. When the nurse went out, Lindsey asked, "Quentin said that you also have a fever. Are you feeling better?" She looked calm and her eyes were sparkling, but she looked very fragile and pale. "Much better." Somehow after last night's incident, the two of them suddenly became awkward like strangers. Even if they were just sitting face to face, it felt like there was an insurmountable rift between them. "Thank you." Lindsey said lightly. She felt that she had been completely relieved. Love and hate were so drastic, yet they were only separated by a thin line. Those grievances had become something from her past life the moment Zayn jumped overboard to save her. Put it this way, all of her sorrows and joys from the first half of her life were closely linked to this man. The dull world suddenly became more colorful and memorable because of him, making her life filled with ups and downs. What else was there to be dissatisfied with? Zayn heard her thanking him and froze for a second. He did not say anything. Both of them were filled with emotions but neither wanted to declare them. He had thought of waiting for Lindsey to wake up to talk with her. He wanted to tell her how much he cared for her and how guilty he felt after giving her up, but when he saw Lindsey sitting in front of him, he could not say anything. When Quentin told him that Lindsey asked about him, he was truly happy, but it made him more conscious of the problems between the two of them. Compared to his own feelings, Zayn wanted to make her happy. He wanted her to live a happy and secure life without any darkness. Zayn did not want to let go of this marriage till death did them part, but how could he get her to forgive the mistakes he once made? Even though Lindsey accepted his apology, they still could not live together in peace. In terms of loving someone, he probably was very incompetent. "I’m glad you're okay. Mrs. Wendy will come over later to keep you company. You should stay another night for observation. If there’s nothing serious, then you can be discharged tomorrow." Zayn paused for a moment and continued, "If there's nothing else, I'll leave first." Lindsey gave a faint "mmm". He was like an ordinary friend that came for a casual visit and left Lindsey in the empty ward. Zayn never showed up again and it was Allie who helped Lindsey with the discharge procedures. Allie felt guilty, but Lindsey did not suspect her at all. "How’s the situation in Denarius recently?" Lindsey asked Allie. Allie was clumsily peeling an apple and lifted her head when she heard this. “It’s not great. Even though Zayn had already suppressed news of your accident, it was still leaked somehow. The news was also exaggerated that someone died in the incident, which caused Denarius’ stocks to drop significantly.” She casually left out another point, which was that Hemera and Wilford Corporation took advantage of this opportunity to gain a lot of benefits. Lindsey was a little lost in thought as she listened and did not speak. Seeing her lost face, Allie put the peeled apple into Lindsey's hand and asked, "What's wrong? You seem a bit upset." Lindsey returned to her senses. "Really?" "Lindsey, haven't you noticed that we haven't had a good talk recently." In fact, Lindsey had not talked much since she was discharged from the hospital. "You're in such poor health, so I told my brother to let you rest for a few more days." "Mmm." Seeing Lindsey's indifferent attitude, Allie felt bored and proposed. "It's too boring to stay home all day. My brother bought a hot springs lodge some time ago. Why don't we go there?" Lindsey was moved by Allie’s excitement. If she went on a vacation, perhaps she would not get caught in her undeclared emotions. Besides, she could not stop thinking about Zayn these days and could not calm her mind. Lindsey was convinced and did not hesitate. Without needing Allie to rush her, Lindsey had already packed a bag and the two of them went out together. She rarely went on a holiday. When Lindsey arrived, she realized that the so-called hot springs lodge that Allie had mentioned was more like a holiday resort. It was huge and they had everything from restaurants to entertainment. The manager in charge of receiving the two ladies got the news a long time ago and greeted them in the lobby. After seeing Allie, he nodded his head and led the two of them inside. "Now that the weather’s hotter, there are fewer people who come to the hot springs. Back there are the private hot springs reserved for VIPs. Young Lady, Ms. Juhl, this way please." The space was really big and the good thing was that it was nice and quiet. Different guests were divided into different areas, so they would not bump into each other. Lindsey was just thinking this when she saw a man in a suit walking over from the end of the corridor. "Brother?" Lindsey was a little surprised. The man was not dressed like he was coming to the hot springs, so he was probably here for business and he looked to be in a hurry. When he saw Lindsey, he was stunned and asked, “Linds, why are you here?” Immediately after, Shaun looked at Allie, who was next to Lindsey, and gently nodded his head as a greeting. "This is one of Wilford's assets. I followed Allie over for a break. Do you have something urgent? If you do, then you should go ahead first." Shaun did have some business, so he said, "Then you ladies have a good time. I’ll look for you later!" Seeing Shaun leave, the manager in charge of the resort said in appreciation, "Mr. Juhl is such a capable person. I didn't expect he would have such a great relationship with you, Ms. Juhl." Lindsey just smiled lightly and did not say anything. The inner part of the resort was not as lavish as the outside, but rather delicate and simple, like an old English manor. Lindsey really could not believe that someone like Liam would like something so simple and old-fashioned. After dinner, Allie excitedly dragged Lindsey to the private hot spring. It was humid in the countryside on a June summer night, so it was nice to soak in the warm spring water. The night was pitch black and when Lindsey came out of the hot springs, her skin was pinkish. She did not expect that Shaun had not left yet and he even asked the staff to inform her of his arrival. Lindsey was a little drowsy after being in the water for a long time, but she still got changed and went to the front.
