Rosalie parked the car, only to find the nursing home gate locked.
A cleaner sweeping the courtyard walked over and nodded toward the building. "Looking for that cranky old lady? Her grandson just picked her up."
"Cranky old lady?" Rosalie asked, puzzled by the nickname.
"You bet," the cleaner said with a shrug. "She's lived here for years, very set in her ways, and doesn't get along with anyone. That's what we all call her."
Rosalie understood. She looked toward the courtyard and realized she had arrived too late.
Still, she let out a sigh of relief—she really didn't want to deal with a completely unfamiliar couple.
Back in her car, she instinctively grabbed her phone, and a pop-up for a financial news alert appeared. "All subsidiaries of the Yarwood Group have turned their websites black—mourning the deceased, or gearing up for a major shakeup?"
