I laughed as I clutched the papers in my hands; the very ones that would get me all I’ve been working towards since I married that bitch, Alicia, years ago. “Hello, Governor, yes. I am on my way.” I said, before hanging up.
Before I could take any step further, my phone dinged with a notification: “Sir, should I proceed with the plan?” The message read, and I heaved a sigh of relief.
Finally.
I’m rid of that bastard seed of Alicia.
‘Yes.’
I texted back to the assassin I hired to kill Lucien. There is no room for loose ends. If Lucien had to die for me to take over everything without a hitch, I would kill him without hesitation.
I grabbed one of his car keys and made my way to the garage. Ever since I got my hands on these papers, a smile has remained on my face. This is what I’ve been chasing all this time. To become the king, I thought I would be after I married Alicia. To raise the Hayes name and make myself somebody the world would remember.
