Chapter 251 Put the Divorce on Hold for Now
Jeanette shook her head. "There's nothing to be scared of. Mr. Ashford, can you let go of me?"
William stiffened for a beat. Then, he asked softly, "Do you hate me that much?"
Jeanette looked genuinely puzzled. "What does that have to do with hate? Mr. Ashford, we're getting divorced. The one thing we should be doing right now is keeping our distance. Do you understand that?"
Every time he saw her, all she talked about was divorce.
William had never hated a word the way he hated that one now. He let out a humorless laugh. "Didn't you want me to hold you before?"
"You said it yourself. That was before."
It was just one short sentence, completely emotionless, yet it made William fall silent at once.
She was right. That was before.
William fell silent. Jeanette pulled free of his arms, then asked, "Why are you here?"
William answered with a trace of sarcasm. "I stuck my nose where it didn't belong. I happened to be passing by."
