Noah stood up from the bed and glanced at Zoe. “I have some stuff to do at my study.” She stared up at him and nodded. Sighing,he walked away. He didn’t really had anything to do at his study.He just needed to regroup and get his thoughts together. Noah paced to and fro in his study.He didn’t care if this man was her first love or not.She had become the reason for his smile and he couldn’t let anyone take that away from him. ****************** The following day, during lunch hours,he walked into the living room to find Zoe sitting on the living room. He had wanted to ask her what she wanted for lunch but she seemed to be texting again. Was it Jasper? He wanted to take the phone from her,delete and block that fucking number. Noah took a deep breath,reminding himself that he couldn’t be controlling. But he wanted her to stop texting that man!And then he thought of something. He brought out his cellphone and sat on a sofa nearby then he shot Zoe a text. Noah:Hey,love. Zoe stared at him and laughed.”Why are you texting me?” He smiled at her and shot her another text. Noah:Pretend I’m not in the room with you.I feel like texting you. He wanted to distract her from texting another man.He wanted to be the only man she was texting. Zoe found him silly but she typed up a reply for him. Zoe:You’re literally in the same room with me. Noah:I just said I felt like texting you.What do you want for lunch?Should we go out or order? Zoe:We should order. Noah:What do you want? Zoe:Pizza. Noah:I’ll place the order.By the way,there’s a bug close to your ass. Zoe was only on his shirt and panties.As soon as she heard that,she screamed and jumped off the couch. Noah burst into laughter and then she realized that there was no bug. “Noah!”She shrieked and made after him but he took off. Zoe laughed as she chased him around his house. He finally let her catch him and she pressed him against the wall. “What are you going to do to me,my love?”He asked. Oh.Zoe loved when he called her that.She couldn’t help but blush but then she smacked him on the chest. Noah chuckled and pulled her into his arms,hugging her tightly. “I love you,Zoe.You know that,right?” She smiled and nodded,loving his warmth and the scent of his body,she just wanted to be wrapped in it forever. *************** Zoe was at her office the following day when a huge bouquet of flowers came in for her. She could only guess who had sent it and when she picked up the card,she couldn’t help but smile,brightly. “You're the closest to heaven, that I'll ever be.I love you,Zoe,you’re not just my present.You’re all I see in my future. Your best boyfriend,Noah.” Zoe’s face was starting to hurt from smiling too much.He was just so sweet and she couldn’t help but fall even more in love with him. She quickly gave him a call. “I just got the flowers.They’re so pretty.”She cooed. “I’m glad you like them.”He replied and then he added.”Zoe,I hope you know that I meant everything I wrote in the note.” If she wasn’t mistaken,she could sense a hint of sadness in his tone. “I know.Are you okay,Noah?” “I am.” “You don’t sound okay.” “I do.I’ve just been choked up with work all day.I’ll call you later.”With that,he hung up. Zoe pouted.He must be stressed with work and it was just Monday.They didn’t have any plans to meet up today but she decided to go see him after work to cheer him up.After all,he had told her countless that she recharges his emotional batteries so she was going to take away his stress of today. ************ After Noah ended the call,he leaned against his swivel chair. The truth was that he hadn’t done anything all day.He was so distracted with the fact that Zoe could be texting that man again. He couldn’t get his mind off it.What if that man really succeeds in winning Zoe over? What was going to happen to him then? Would she choose him if he begs her to stay? He knew if that happens,there was no way he would be as happy as before.If she should fall in love with someone else,there would be absolutely nothing he could do but to nurse his pure heart and try to live without her. That wasn’t fair. He tried not to think negatively,he was going to try harder.He was going to try his best to make sure she doesn’t leave him. At the close of work,he walked out of the company feeling miserable that he couldn’t get any work done. “Noah!” He lifted up his head to see Zoe waving at him and smiling so happily. He instantly felt his whole world brightened. And then she ran up to him and hugged him. Noah pressed his face against her neck and tightened his arms around her. God,he loved this woman. He didn’t want to ever learn how to live without her. She slowly moved back.”You were having a stressful day at work so I decided to surprise you.” He smiled.”I love this surprise.” She held his hand.”Let’s take a walk before going home.” He nodded,loving that idea. They hadn’t even walked far when her phone beeped and his mood soured. Zoe brought out her phone from her pocket of her jacket with her free hand but then Noah let go of her other hand and she noticed he hastened his footsteps. “Noah.”She called,walking up to him. He shot her a smile but she could tell it was fake. “What’s going on with you?” “Nothing.” “You let go of my hand for no reason and you just sped off.” He ran a hand through his hair.”I was letting you reply to your text.” “It was just a random email.” “Oh…okay.”He looked away from her so she could sensed his unease but it was too late,she sensed it. “You look upset.” “I’m not.” Zoe slowly held his hand.”Stop lying,talk to me.” He had been avoiding this conversation all weekend but he had to face it. Noah quickly cupped her cheeks.”I’m sorry.I’m so sorry.”He pressed his lips against her forehead.”Please don’t cry.” “You mean a lot to me too,Noah.You don’t even have to worry about anyone else because there’s no space for them.” He pulled her into his arms,hugging her tightly. “You can always talk to me.You can always be yourself around me.I love you.” Noah pressed a kiss against her temple.He was never going to doubt her feelings for him again.
