Chapter 91
Zane's POV
Morning light slipped through the curtains in narrow bands, casting soft gold across the room. I blinked awake slowly, my body still heavy and sore in all the wrong places. But it was not as bad as I had thought.
Bruno's medicine had worked amazingly well. I felt grateful to him. But a dull throb still pulsed through my muscles as I shifted beneath the sheets. I winced, reaching instinctively for my neck.
My fingers found the spot where Garcia's hand had gripped me. The memory of his fingers, his body pressing down on me, stealing my breath, reminded me of where I had been and who I had been with.
I sat up too quickly, my chest tightening with the recollection.
His burning eyes were still vivid in my mind. That flash of jealousy, that twisted fury… I had seen Garcia many times: smug, amused and commanding. But never like that. Last night, he was different, as if he were a demon from hell. That version of him scared me to the core.
