Chapter 83
The door clicked shut behind Garcia, leaving me in silence. But the faint scent of his cologne still lingered in the air, enveloping me. After some time, I came out of the bathroom and sagged onto the bed, removing the mask.
I couldn't help but wonder who had drugged Garcia and why. Was it his enemy? Or someone who wanted to get close to him?
A knock sounded at the door before Bruno stepped in, a medical bag slung over one shoulder.
"How are you feeling?" Bruno asked, his usual grin tugging at his mouth.
"Not bad," I replied, even though the stiffness in my muscles and the dull ache in my wrist said otherwise.
He stepped closer and tossed his bag onto the edge of the bed. "You survived last night," he said casually. "Didn't scream once. I was outside the whole time, ready to kick the door in." He chuckled, eyes dancing. "Turns out, you're tougher than I gave you credit for."
