We arrived at the supermarket to pick up some groceries. Laughing and chatting, we made our way through the aisles, filling our basket with ingredients for tonight's dinner. Just as I reached for a bundle of fresh basil, I felt Lucian tense beside me. Following his gaze, I turned to see a striking woman approaching us with an air of elegance. She was tall and beautiful, her sharp eyes locking onto Lucian with a bright smile. "Lucian," she greeted smoothly. Lucian's jaw tightened. "Lara." I immediately sensed the tension radiating from him. A glance between them made it clear—this woman, Lara, shared a history with Lucian. Lara exhaled softly, clasping her hands in front of her. "I won't take much of your time," she said hesitantly. Then, in a quieter voice, she added, "I just wanted to apologize on John's behalf." I blinked. 'John? Who is he, and what's his connection to Lucian?' Before I could ask, Lucian's voice cut through the air like ice. "Don't bother. An apology won't change wha
