Chapter 29
I stood firmly in the doorway, my expression cold and unyielding. "What do you want?" I snapped, irritation lacing my voice.
"I need to talk," Declan stated.
Behind me, Lucian's voice rang out. "Who is it?"
I hesitated for a brief moment before stepping aside, allowing Declan to enter. As much as I despised the idea of speaking with him, I couldn't deny him the right to see Lucian. After all, he was the hospital's chief physician.
Declan stepped inside, his gaze settling immediately on Lucian. "How are you feeling?" he asked, his tone unexpectedly gentle—so much so that it almost caught me off guard. It was as if his previous resentment toward Lucian had simply disappeared.
"The pain is still there, but I'm managing," Lucian responded coolly. "Thanks for checking in."
Declan gave a small nod, lowering his gaze briefly before lifting his head again, this time looking directly at me. "I'm here to ask for something." His attention shifted back to Lucian. "Don't press charges against Nicol
