Zane’s POV…
I didn’t stop running until my lungs burned and my legs felt like they might give out. I bent over, hands on my knees, gasping for air. Sweat poured down my face, but I didn’t wipe it away. My mind was too busy spiraling.
Garcia had been there, watching the match.
I hadn’t invited him. Had Bruno brought him? Or had he come on his own?
The thought of him sitting in the crowd, eyes locked on me, made my heart pound even harder. I didn’t know what I was feeling. A surge of adrenaline, mixed with panic and something else I didn’t want to name.
The truth was that I had been missing him. Even when I tried not to, my eyes would wander around, searching for him in the stands, outside the rink, at the hostel gates, or just passing by on the street. But ever since that night, he hadn’t shown up. Not once.
