Chapter 836

Freya's mind went blank, and she almost lost the ability to think. "Thank me for what?" "Thank you for wiping my sweat away just now," Ryan said earnestly. "I've been married to Yasmine for so long, but she's never done that for me." Freya secretly felt pleased in her heart. Her ears burned up, and she sighed. "My husband was never grateful too. He always took my kindness for granted and never thanked me." After her time on the deserted island, Freya had a different outlook on life. If she ever returned to society, she would no longer be the same Freya. Her feelings for her husband had already changed drastically, and the reason for that change was Ryan. Freya couldn't help but glance at Ryan, her eyes instinctively falling on his pecs. He was the most well-built man Freya had ever seen. Ryan responded with a slightly bitter smile. "It seems you and I both met the wrong person at the wrong time. If..." Ryan felt he shouldn't say more, so he stopped mid-sentence and continued eating. He made some appreciative noises from time to time. "If what?" Freya could guess what Ryan wanted to say but insisted he say it himself. With his mouth full of meat and rice, Ryan sounded muffled as he spoke. "Nothing! It's just that your cooking is delicious as always." Rather than hear his praise, Freya wanted to listen to the words he left unsaid. With a glint in her eyes, she tried another approach to make Ryan speak his mind. "Since you like my cooking, would you like to eat it always from now on?" she asked. Ryan suddenly sputtered and choked. Freya hurried over to gently pat his back and asked with concern, "Are you okay? Did you manage to swallow the food?" Ryan pounded his chest a few times before finally swallowing the food. He said jokingly, "Your food is so good, but I can't eat it too quickly. I need to take it one bite at a time." After a few more bites, he deliberately asked, "What were you saying earlier?" Freya was worried he might choke again, so she changed the subject. "It was nothing. Eat up." "Okay." Ryan was very hungry. He ate voraciously and quickly finished his food without leaving a single morsel. After he was done, he wiped his mouth with his arm. "Luckily, we met the dwarf tribe. Otherwise, we wouldn't have rice to eat," Ryan remarked. The dwarf tribe had exchanged corn, sweet potatoes, peanuts, rice, and salt with Ryan and the women, making them important trade partners. "Yes, we should thank the dwarves," Freya said, her eyes drawn to his broad back. She was unable to look away as she responded absentmindedly. It was a well-known fact that having a cigar after a meal was delightful. Ryan lit a cigar and looked up at the dark blue night sky. He took a drag and exhaled a long trail of smoke, savoring the delicious meal and the passionate moments with Sherry and Eloise earlier. When he returned to his senses, he noticed the bowls were still on the ground. Didn't Freya say she would take the bowls back up the mountain just now? "Freya?" Ryan turned to look for her and found her standing right behind him, her eyes sparkling bright. Without warning, Freya lunged forward and hugged Ryan tightly. She pressed her face against his back, feeling his firm muscles and the warmth of his body. Not only that, she also felt his sweat against her body and his racing pulse. For a moment, Ryan didn't know how to respond. "Freya, I..." If Freya asked for sex, Ryan couldn't let her down and would indulge in her. But Freya just held him with her eyes closed, enjoying the feeling of being secure while holding him. "It's wonderful to have you here," Freya said. Ryan thought for a moment and said perfunctorily, "Fate brought us all together. I help you all, and all of you help me."
