Chapter 831
Eloise explained the science behind the explosion to Sherry. "It's like a balloon. We keep pumping air into it, and the balloon keeps expanding. Once the air reaches the limit that the balloon can withstand, it will explode. Now, think of the meteorite as the balloon and the air as the accumulating energy. Once the meteorite can't bear the energy accumulated, it explodes. Get it, Sherry?"
Sherry remained silent because she still didn't understand.
Ryan said to Eloise, "You can't explain military tactics to a chef and expect him to understand. There's no need to explain so much. We just need to know that the meteorite will explode before it hits the ground."
Sherry held a knife against Ryan's neck and bit her rosy lips. She asked domineeringly, "Who did you say was the chef?"
Ryan knew she was joking, so he went along with it. He smiled sheepishly, begging for mercy as he said, "I'm the chef!"
"Then, what does that make me?" Sherry asked with a sly smile.
Ryan pretended to be scared while replying, "You're the military strategist!"
Only then did Sherry put away the knife and strike a heroic pose. "Make fun of me again, and it's off with your head!"
Eloise guffawed like she was watching a comedy skit. Jokes aside, they still had serious work to do.
Ryan walked to the small hole and looked inside. There it was—an iron lump about the size of a shot put. It had sunk over three feet deep, and it was black with a metallic sheen. The light they saw was reflected from this big iron lump inside the hole.
Ryan dug a bigger hole and reached in with both hands to remove the big iron lump. He then placed it on the ground.
"Wow, what a big iron ball!" Sherry walked over curiously and bent down. She tried to lift the iron ball but failed.
Ryan teased, "This iron ball isn't much bigger than the ones on your chest. Yet, you can't lift it?"
Instead of getting angry, Sherry glanced inside her pelt bandeau in embarrassment and said, "This iron ball is bigger than both of mine combined, okay?"
Ryan's heart skipped a beat upon hearing that. He said, "Really? Let me check!"
In no time, he reached his hand into her bandeau.
"Ah!" Sherry screamed and pushed his hand away. "Get lost, you pervert!"
Ryan laughed, saying, "I think it's about the same size as this iron ball."
Sherry pouted and glared daggers at Ryan. "If you touch me again, I'll slice your head off!"
She raised the knife to threaten Ryan as she shrieked furiously.
Feeling worried that Sherry was genuinely incensed, Eloise quickly spoke up for Ryan. "Sherry, Ryan was just fooling around. Don't take it seriously."
On the other hand, Ryan was feeling smug. Not only did he not admit that he was joking, but he also lifted his hand that reached into Sherry's pelt bandeau to his nose. He took in the scent like it was the most intoxicating thing in the world.
"Ah, so fragrant! I smell the scent of ripe mangoes," Ryan said.
Sherry's lips were pursed, and her face was flushed. But deep in her heart, she thought Ryan was being sweet.
