Chapter 38
Seraphina's POV
My first attempt at skiing down the slope as a beginner ended badly—I lost control and fell into a pile of snow. However, instead of giving up, I laughed with a growing sense of enthusiasm. I then got back up and brushed the snow off my jacket.
“Come on, Seraphina,” I muttered as I stood up. “You can do this.”
My second attempt wasn't much better. I managed to stay up longer, but panic set in as my speed increased, and I deliberately fell to avoid colliding with the safety fence.
On the third attempt, something went wrong. I remembered Kaelos' instructions about weight distribution and turning techniques. I made it halfway before losing my balance, but it was progress.
The fourth attempt was the charm.
I gave myself a mental boost; the lessons Kaelos had taught me should be enough for me to practice on my own. This time, I felt everything was right. As I glided, I felt the strength in my legs. A smile spread across my face as I felt I could balance my body on the skis.
