Chapter 5 What did she expect?

Suddenly, there was a piercing pain, and a warm liquid slowly slid down between her legs. “Help me!” In the bathroom, Hazel, who was feeling a bit disheveled, suddenly heard Maya's cry for help and ran out in fear. When seeing the blood pouring out between Maya's legs, Hazel quickly picked up her phone and called 911, "My sister has shed a lot of blood. Please come here as soon as possible. The address is...” At four o'clock in the morning, in the obstetrics and gynecology ward, Hazel sat in front of the hospital bed, looking at Maya, who had fallen into a deep sleep due to excessive weakness. She kept thinking the doctor's words, "Sorry, her baby couldn't be saved.” Hazel's eyes couldn't help but blush. The baby that Maya had put in all her effort to keep was ultimately lost. Was it fate? After a moment of hesitation, Hazel took out his phone and dialed Devyn's phone. After ringing a few times, the phone was connected, and a woman's petite voice came, "Who is calling so late? Don't you know that we are sleeping?” Hazel hung up the phone without saying a word. A scumbag like Devyn was not worthy of Maya! When Maya woke up, it was already nine o'clock the next day. Opening her eyes, she saw Hazel dozing in front of the bed. She couldn't help but softly call out, "Hazel.” Upon hearing the sound, Hazel immediately sat up straight and pretended that nothing had happened, smiling and saying, "Are you awake and hungry? I’ll prepare something to eat.” She planned to wait for Maya calming down before telling her about the miscarriage. But Maya calmly asked, "Hazel, is the baby gone?” Hazel originally thought Maya would be very sad, but she didn't shed a single tear. She comforted softly, "You’ll have another baby in the future.” Maya smiled bitterly and said, "In the future? Devyn and I have no future.” This baby was the only bond between her and Devyn. Now that the baby was gone, where would the future come from? The calm Maya made Hazel feel uneasy, "Maya?” “Hazel, can you help me find a lawyer?" Maya suddenly changed the topic. Hazel frowned and said, "Why are you looking for a lawyer?” Maya lowered her eyes and said without any emotion, "It's also time to divorce Devyn.” Hazel was somewhat surprised. After all, before that, no matter how she persuaded her, Maya remained steadfast in this marriage. But now she suddenly wanted a divorce. Was it because of the baby? But Hazel didn't ask too much, just nodded and said, "Okay! I'm going to find the best lawyer for you.” Previously, it was Maya who did her best to take care of her and protect her. In the future, she would be the strongest support for her. As soon as Hazel walked out of the obstetrics and gynecology clinic, two familiar figures appeared not far away. They were Kaliyah and Arthur, her ex best friend and ex fiance. Hazel didn't want to talk to them and turned around to leave. But Kaliyah, however, coquettishly stopped her and said, "Hazel, why are you in the hospital? Is there something wrong with you?” Hazel stopped and turned to look at the woman in front of her, who was such a goody two-shoes. Previously, Kaliyah liked to appear weak in front of her, pretending to care about her, making her think that Kaliyah was genuinely treating her as her best friend. Later on, she realized what kind of people this so-called best friend was, always secretly flirting with Arthur. She curled her lips and sneered, "This is the obstetrics and gynecology department. What else can I do here?” “Are you pregnant?” Upon hearing this, Arthur's bronze face was slightly embarrassed, and his gaze at Hazel gradually became a bit sharp. Even if he and Hazel had been together for over two years, not to mention having sex her, he didn’t even kiss her. She got pregnant after only a year of separation? So, were all the previous reserve and elegance fake? Upon hearing this, Kaliyah's face flashed a strange look, but she looked at Hazel with a worried expression, "Hazel, why didn't I hear you had a partner? Whose baby is it? Suddenly, she covered her mouth in surprise and said, "Aren't you with a big shot?” Hazel coldly glanced at Kaliyah and smiled, "It’s none of your business.” When saying this, she was noble and elegant, with a delicate and charming face, who wasn’t like a poor woman at all. Kaliyah couldn't help but clench her fingers, her gaze gloomy. She finally waited Hazel’s family going bankrupt, and finally managed to overwhelm Hazel. But Hazel met a wealthy man? How could Hazel show off in front of her just because of an old and wealthy man? Immediately she said as her good friend, "Hazel, how can you do such a thing?" Hazel chuckled lightly and said, "Even if I have no bottom line, I am still better than someone picking up garbage. Oh no, it should be better to say she stole garbage.” The word 'stole' deliberately prolonged the sound, causing Arthur to be angry. How could he not hear Hazel deliberately implying that he was garbage? Kaliyah, like a carefree person, flipped out an invitation from her bag and handed it over, "Hazel, next Friday is my engagement banquet with Arthur. I hope you can come.” Hazel accepted it expressionless, with a seductive smile, "Don't worry, I will definitely attend on time.” Then she proudly left in the meaningful eyes of them. Kaliyah looked at Hazel's departure and deliberately gloated at Arthur, saying, " I didn't expect her to be taken care of by anyone? How could she be so self indulgent?” When saying this, she stared at Arthur's eyes, wanting to see how he reacted. Arthur quickly hugged Kaliyah's waist and said with great indifference, "I have nothing to do with her now. Aren't you feeling unwell? Let's go in and see a doctor.” After hearing the answer that came to her mind, Kaliyah smiled with satisfaction. On the other side, Hazel thought she would be sad because of the appearance of Arthur and Kaliyah, but in fact, she didn’t. She just felt a bit groggy and nauseous. After coming out of the hospital, Hazel went directly to the law firm. But she didn't expect to see Lamont and Chad when leaving? They were getting off a Maybach car, followed by two black bodyguards. Lamont was still wearing the black windbreaker he wore last night, in a pair of black field boots. His handsome face showed no emotion, and he was walking towards her. She had to say that his every move exuded a kind of awe inspiring atmosphere. No wonder people in New York were afraid of him. Hazel was pondering whether to take the initiative to say hello, but Lamont had already crossed her and entered the law firm, without even looking at her throughout the process. His attitude was as cold as a stranger. Hazel smiled bitterly. What was she looking forward to? Weren't they strangers except for last night? Before entering the law firm, Chad couldn't help but glance at Hazel. It was just because of that overly beautiful pretty face. If her family had not gone bankrupt, he would never have imagined what kind of man would deserve such a girl. Unfortunately, her family was bankrupt, and she wasn’t as welcome as before. “Lamont, what do you think of that girl just now?" Chad quickly followed Lamont's footsteps and gossiped in his ear.
