Chapter 98
ELORA'S POV
The guest room upstairs has always been more quiet than the others. I sat at the corner where the air felt less heavy. I'd been curled up here with a book I wasn't really reading, allowing the silence to take over once again. The door creaked open and I turned to find Grandma stepping in with a tray balanced in her arms.
Ugh! More water and medicine.
“I knew you'd be here,” she said softly, her voice carrying that mixture of relief and worry only she could manage. “I checked the master bedroom and couldn't find you.”
I set the book aside and turn fully to her.
“You shouldn't have come all the way up here. Grandma, I would've just come downstairs if you'd just call me.”
“You say that, and yet you hide yourself away.” She muttered, pushing the tray towards me.
I took the pills immediately and washed them down with enough water in one gulp. Her eyes lingered on me, studying me in that way that felt like she could see more of me than I present.
