Chapter 95

ELORA'S POV It was already late in the evening when I told Lila it was time for her to sleep, at least for a while before the bonfire started. She pouted at first, insisting she wasn't tired, but the way she rubbed at her eyes betrayed her. Eventually she crawled into her sleeping bag. I sat beside her until her breathing softened and she fell asleep. Brandon had stepped away earlier to receive a call, and when he returned, he had two jackets in his hands. One was big and heavy, which I'm guessing it's for me, while the other was a small one in pink. Without a word he draped the bigger one over my shoulders. “I'm not cold,” I muttered, trying to shrug it off. His eyes flicked to me. “Just wear it, Elora.” I sighed, but I didn't push it further. The truth was, the jacket was warm. Warmer than I wanted to admit. Brandon crouched next to Lila and carefully helped her into the smaller jacket while she was still half asleep, tugging the zipper all the way up to her chin. She barely stirred.
