ELORA'S POV
Lucian didn't come home last night.
I should've known. But still, a part of me—some foolish part of me—hoped he'd walk in no matter how late it got. Even grandma hadn't gone to bed early, she kept pacing in the living room like she expected him to walk in. But he never showed up. Not that I really expected him, it's not as if it's his first time, but I had to pretend that I care since Grandma is around.
So I just went upstairs and slept after a few hours of waiting. What's the point of waiting for someone who clearly didn't care about showing up?
The next morning, I went down the stairs expecting the usual quiet. Instead, I froze at the sight of Lucian in the kitchen, pouring coffee like nothing had happened. His shirt sleeves rolled up, his hair still damp from a shower, he looked maddeningly casual…as if staying out all night was normal.
