Chapter 713
Third person's POV
Leopold carefully compared the photos. Although the person in the photos was dressed differently and had a different appearance, the body shape and the action of holding things with the left hand were identical.
Derek became alert, thinking to himself, "People like us are more sensitive than ordinary people. Such photos wouldn't catch the attention of most, but I've noticed something."
"Where's the negative?" Derek asked.
"I'll have it sent over right away," Leopold replied.
"And Tabitha?" Derek inquired again.
"Don't worry, she followed me to the bar. She's in the lobby outside. I have my bodyguards keeping an eye on her," Leopold said.
Tabitha had been following Leopold for several days, and Derek, concerned about his own people being exposed, asked Leopold's men to watch her.
She maintained a simple daily routine without any issues.
However, the photos now revealed to Derek that someone was tracking Tabitha, clearly scouting the area.
Indeed, Tabitha had followed Leopold to the bar, thinking, "I must understand Leopold's daily routine to plan the rescue of Gloria."
She didn't like the chaotic environment of bars, even if it was the largest nightclub that Leopold frequented. The higher-end the place, the wilder the entertainment and the more varieties it offered.
Tabitha wore a thick down jacket and a furry hat and covered half her face with a thick scarf, drawing ridicule from those around her.
Tabitha frowned, thinking, "I need to push forward and see who Leopold is meeting, whether his private life is messy, and if he has been unfaithful to Gloria."
At that moment, a teenager suddenly patted her shoulder and said with a smirk, "Hey, that lady in the down jacket, are you here to catch someone cheating?"
Tabitha felt disgusted and ignored him.
The teenager, seemingly playing a dare, took her as his target and persisted, "Help me out, please. If you do, I'll pretend to be your boyfriend later. Look at me. I'm handsome and young, definitely better than your husband's lover."
"Get away," Tabitha said impatiently.
"It's just a little game," the teenager said, forcefully pulling off her scarf.
Upon seeing her face, the teenager was stunned, his eyes filled with amazement, "You're so beautiful. Can I chase you?"
Tabitha was annoyed and said, "I told you to get away!"
At that moment, a tall man approached and said, "Can't you see she doesn't want to? Back off."
"Who's this old man causing trouble?" the teenager said, and a group of boys from his table, who looked like high school athletes, each with considerable bulk, stood up.
"You're asking for it!" the man said, punching the teenager in the face.
Before Tabitha could react, the man grabbed her hand and ran outside.
"Run!" Tabitha was startled and instinctively followed the man.
Before she could process what was happening, the man pulled her along, with a group of tall boys following them.
Tabitha struggled and shouted, "Let go of me!"
The man ran and said, "It's dangerous here. A woman like you won't be safe." He quickened his pace.
They bumped into a waiter, spilling alcohol all over the floor, creating chaos.
Leopold's bodyguards also chased after them, making the situation even more chaotic.
Tabitha was tightly held by the man, and she frowned, saying, "I said let go of me!"
The man ran and explained, "I'm doing this for your own good, taking you to a safe place."
Soon, the man brought Tabitha to a small alley.
Tabitha immediately realized something was wrong. She thought to herself, this man is so strong, so there's no way I can win in a direct confrontation.
Her gaze fell on an abandoned shovel in the alley, and Tabitha quickly grabbed it, hitting the man's head hard.
The man reacted quickly, immediately releasing Tabitha and stepping back.
"Hey, don't misunderstand. I just wanted to help you," he said.
Tabitha's face was cold and alert as she said, "Stay away from me."
At that moment, two dark figures suddenly leaped out from behind the trash cans, pouncing toward Tabitha.
Tabitha dodged and swung the shovel at one of them.
She understood that this man had indeed caused trouble on purpose to bring her here.
From the beginning, she had sensed a dangerous aura about him. He was no ordinary person but rather an assassin.
Tabitha shouted, "Who are you?"
The men blocked the alley entrance, and one of them, rotating his wrist impatiently, said, "Boss, don't waste time talking to her. Just do it."
"Ms. Hartley, I'm sorry," the man who brought her here said, pulling out a silenced pistol.
Tabitha understood that they had clearly planned this.
As snowflakes fell from the sky, Tabitha looked at the men in front of her and asked, "Who sent you?"
"You don't need to know," the man said, pulling the trigger.
"Bang!"
A gunshot rang out in the quiet alley, and blood splattered.
The man fell in front of Tabitha with a bloody hole in his chest.
"Boss!"
Everyone present was shocked by this sudden turn of events. Who could it be?
