Chapter 1307
Abigail could not eat, so the doctor had no choice but to administer parenteral nutrition for her to ensure her bodily functions could operate normally.
This went on for two days. Abigail still continued to vomit anything she tried to eat. She could not get any nourishment through food.
Everyone knew that if Abigail continued to be unable to eat, it was not just her unborn child's life that was at risk, but also her own.
Johann and the others tried various methods, but nothing was effective. So, he sent someone to Florivera to invite Felix and Melody to Valtara, hoping that they could help.
In just a few days, Abigail had become so thin that she seemed like a different person. Felix and Melody were heartbroken to see Abigail in her current state.
Melody was so worried that she teared up. "Caterpie, what's wrong?"
Abigail was half-lying on the bed. She did not look so well because she was only relying on parenteral nutrition these two days. Her voice was very weak too. "Mel, Fee, why are you here?"
Melody vigorously wiped her tears away and said angrily, "Why are we here? If we hadn't come, the next time we saw you, it might've been at your and your child's funeral."
The words were harsh, but she had a point.
Abigail forced a smile. "I'm sorry! I made you both worry again."
Felix was both angry and worried. "You're talking nonsense again."
Melody nudged him. "Keep your voice down. Don't scare Caterpie."
Felix said, "Caterpie, you've been through so much over the years. You've endured such tough times. Everything has gotten better now. You don't have to worry about a thing even if you don't work for the rest of your life.
"But look at what you're doing. When did you become so attached and unable to move on? Why are you pining for an unworthy man?"
Abigail responded, "I'm not pining for a man. I want to live a good life, but..."
Abigail knew better than anyone how precious life was. She understood that life only happened once.
She wanted to live well, give birth to her child, and live a future together. But for some reason, she just could not eat. It was as if she could not control her own body's digestive system.
Felix asked, "But what? Don't leave your words hanging. If you have concerns or worries, tell us. We'll help you."
Abigail replied, "Fee, Mel..."
Melody tightly held Abigail's hand. "Caterpie, tell us."
Abigail felt a little cold. So, she pulled the blanket to cover herself before continuing, "I still remember when I was very young, a fortune teller pointed at me and told my father that I bring bad luck. The fortune teller advised my father to send me away as soon as possible, or else everyone around me would get hurt because of me."
Melody responded, "You silly girl, how could you believe the words of a swindler?"
Abigail chuckled. "You're right, we didn't believe it. My dad even chased the person away with a broom. Three days later, when my dad was out driving a taxi, he had a car accident and left this world forever."
Felix and Melody comforted her, "That was just a coincidence. Don't imagine things."
Abigail replied, "I'm not imagining things. I'm just remembering the events that happened all these years. My father, my mother, and my grandmother all died under abnormal circumstances. Don't you two think I bring bad luck?"
Melody responded, "If you bring bad luck, how come Fee and I have been just fine?"
Abigail said, "That's why you both should stay away from me from now on. All my family has passed away. After they're gone, the next ones in line could be you two."
