Chapter 1779
Not all decisions could be made by a single individual; even Aiden was here solely as a representative of the higher-ups. He was not the ultimate decision-maker, but it was evident that he was leaning in their favor, or he wouldn't have adopted such an attitude.
Having someone in their corner was already a significant advantage.
"Have Ben pay us a visit in the future." Aiden suddenly gazed into the distance as if recalling memories. After a moment, he sighed and shook his head. "That kid, he can be quite stubborn."
Hesper looked at Aiden, realizing that Benjamin was still regarded as a sensible and capable young man among the older generation. When the accident occurred, many found it hard to believe, but now that the truth had come to light, emotions were even more complex.
"I heard your last encounter with him didn't end well," Aiden said, not delving too deeply into her family matters. He understood the sacrifices Benjamin had made for the hallucinogenic drug. Hesper had been separated from them for many years, and the gap between them was filled with sacrifices and choices that couldn't be explained in just a few words.
Sighing, Aiden didn't detain Hesper any longer and waved his hand. "Girl, go home."
...
Following that conversation, hardly anyone disturbed Hesper and Rickard. However, Rickard, of course, had little to no leisure time. After all, once matters were settled here, there were still plenty of affairs awaiting his attention at Duval Group.
Hesper couldn't help but find it somewhat amusing.
But if Rickard didn't return soon to manage the company, Matthew might become overwhelmed by the workload. Therefore, after some consideration, she decided it was best for Rickard to return promptly. She couldn't afford to lose another person she loved.
Duval Group's employees now held a profound and unshakable respect for their CEO. With the recent revelations about Mr. Chronos's identity, they had learned about the formidable figure he was in the world. However, none of them had expected that their CEO would turn out to be the enigmatic figure.
The members of the board of directors, who had been living comfortably in Rickard's absence, were now hesitant to make even the slightest move with his return. This was a significant shift; previously, Rickard had merely been the company's leader, but now he wielded an entirely different level of authority and influence.
As for Hesper, despite the public's curiosity about her future actions following the incident, she had not appeared in public since then.
The primary reason was her pregnancy, and with a group of people constantly fussing over her, she had little opportunity to go out on her own.
Hesper appreciated their concern, but it was starting to feel excessive.
Even a simple visit to Vivienne in the hospital required her to be accompanied by two or three individuals.
Vivienne's arm wound had nearly healed. Professor Miles had provided her with a specially formulated cure, and the scar was hardly noticeable unless one examined it closely.
When Hesper met with Vivienne, the latter had just completed a full-body examination. Vivienne appeared momentarily surprised before nodding. In truth, Hesper's initial impression of Vivienne was that she was a reserved lady.
