Nigel had once dreamed of building a life with Joyce, hoping they could start a family together. But each time, she was the one who walked away. Eventually, he gave up on Joyce. He married Meryl, partly to spite Joyce and partly to calm Mark's worries. Nigel only wanted him and Meryl to be a simple couple who respected each other. He never expected anything more from her, but she showered him with love. The message on the card he drew came true. But what about the card Joyce pulled that said she'd lose her true love forever? From how she looked now, it seemed like that message on her card had also come true. But Nigel didn't think she actually loved him. Joyce's feelings for him were more like she was used to having him around. She was used to him chasing after her, always giving without expecting anything in return, and never complaining.
