The brief interruption ended quickly. The priest resumed his blessings, and the gentle melody of the wedding march filled the air again.
Enola walked slowly down the aisle with her arm linked with Declan's. Delicate pink rose petals softly drifted around them, creating an atmosphere that was both romantic and joyful.
As they approached Parker, Declan's face grew serious, despite the deepened wrinkles around his eyes from his earlier joyful expression.
He looked Parker firmly in the eyes and said, "Brat, since you've convinced someone else's daughter to marry you, you'd better treat Ennie right! If you ever dare to hurt her, you'll answer to me first!"
"I will," Parker promised solemnly.
Everything proceeded smoothly. The priest began the vows and turned to Enola, asking the critical question, "Ms. Crawford, do you take Mr. Sadler as your husband, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health?"
